cslol-manager, LTK Manager and Rose all put custom skins into League of Legends. People mix them up because two come from the same team, League Toolkit (LTK), and the third depends on one of the others. cslol-manager is League Toolkit's original mod manager. LTK Manager is its replacement, first released on 20 February 2026. Rose is a separate skin changer by Alban1911 that unlocks Riot's own skins.
Fast answer: For fan-made skins and mods, use LTK Manager. League Toolkit built it to replace cslol-manager, and cslol-manager's own README now says it is in "maintenance/deprecation mode". For Riot's own skins you don't own, people use Rose, which needs the LTK patcher from an LTK Manager install. Keep cslol-manager only if you're on a Mac: it's the one of the three with macOS builds.
We checked everything below against each project's GitHub README, release notes, commits and issue tracker on 8 October 2026. On that date the latest versions were LTK Manager 1.27.0 (6 October), Rose 1.4.6 (4 October) and cslol-manager 2026-04-15 (15 April).
All three installers in one place. Our LoL skin tools download page serves each installer from its project's latest GitHub release, checked byte for byte against GitHub's copy, so the code signature stays intact. Downloading needs a free Pairly account.
Does cslol-manager still work in 2026?
Only in maintenance mode. Its last release came out on 15 April 2026, and new development has moved to LTK Manager. The top of its README reads: "cslol-manager is currently in maintenance/deprecation mode. Significant new features and development have shifted to the new LTK Manager."
The release history shows the difference. From January to April 2026, cslol-manager shipped a release every few weeks, most of their changelogs reading "fix: refresh cslol dll" or "fix: new cslol dll". The last one came out on 15 April 2026. Between 16 April and 8 October, cslol-manager shipped no releases, LTK Manager shipped 45 and Rose shipped 19. LTK Manager's latest, v1.27.0 on 6 October, says "Updated for League patch 26.20".
We can't test every League patch on your PC. The record shows cslol-manager's patcher stopped getting refreshes in April, while LTK Manager's keeps shipping. If a League update breaks cslol-manager, its README promises maintenance, not new work.
cslol-manager vs LTK Manager vs Rose at a glance
As of 8 October 2026:
cslol-manager
LTK Manager
RoseWhat does LTK Manager do that cslol-manager didn't?
LTK Manager's README calls itself "the League Toolkit team's successor to cslol-manager". The basics feel the same: you import mods, switch them on, press Start and launch League from the Riot Client. The README says this default flow is "the flow every cslol-manager user knows". What's new:
- A newer mod format. LTK Manager reads .modpkg, the League Toolkit package that carries a mod's details, thumbnail and layers, and still installs .fantome files the same way.
- Mod health checks. It checks each mod on import and again after a game patch. It repairs what it can with one press and tells you which mods can't be fixed, so you find out before the game loads.
- Install from a link. Mod sites can offer an "Install with LTK Manager" button. The first time a new site sends a link, the app asks whether to trust that site.
- A one-button launch. Set Launcher flow to Modern and Start becomes Play: one press builds your mods, starts the patcher and asks the Riot Client to open League. The README still marks it experimental.
- A Workshop for mod makers. Browse every game archive without extracting it, search any game file with Ctrl+P, edit .bin files as typed trees, test a mod in game and pack it as .modpkg.
- Updates you can read. The app checks for new versions and shows what changed before it updates.
Installing LTK Manager
Step 1 of 4
How do you switch from cslol-manager to LTK Manager?
You don't convert anything, because LTK Manager reads the .fantome files cslol-manager uses.
- Download the LTK Manager installer (the -setup.exe) from our cslol-manager and LTK Manager downloads and run it.
- On first launch it looks for your League install. If it can't find it, pick the game folder yourself.
- Drag your .fantome files onto the window, or press Import (Ctrl+I) and pick them.
- Turn the mods on, press Start, then launch League as usual.
Where does Rose fit in?
Rose is a skin changer. It sits in your system tray, watches champion select through the League client, and loads the skin you hover when the game starts. Its README says it never injects a skin you already own and supports chromas and skins with several forms, such as Elementalist Lux.
Rose doesn't come with its own patcher. Its README says: "Due to DMCA restrictions, Rose cannot distribute the LTK patcher." You take two files, ltk_patcher_host.exe and ltk_patcher_dll.dll, from an LTK Manager install and put them in the tools folder Rose opens on first launch. That's why the two tools turn up together in searches. Rose switched to the LTK patcher in version 1.3.0 on 24 September 2026, and its README followed on 29 September. Before that, the README asked for "your own signed DLL".
Rose loads custom mods too (.fantome, .zip and .modpkg), but its main use is Riot's paid skins, and that's where the risk sits. Our Rose and LTK patcher setup guide covers where the two files live and how to fix the "patcher outdated" error.
Installing Rose
Step 1 of 5
Which one should you use?

Match the tool to what you want on screen:
- Fan-made skins, HUDs, maps or sounds: LTK Manager. It's the manager League Toolkit still develops, and it reads your old .fantome files.
- Riot skins you don't own: Rose, which needs LTK Manager installed for its patcher. Read the ban section below first.
- You're on a Mac: every cslol-manager release since 13 February 2026 ships macOS builds again, for Apple silicon and Intel. LTK Manager says macOS is planned but not available, and Rose is Windows-only. cslol-manager's issue tracker has open reports of a League patch breaking it on Apple silicon (#464), so expect some trial and error.
- Mods that already work in cslol-manager: they'll keep running only as long as its patcher keeps up with League updates. LTK Manager imports the same .fantome files by drag and drop.
Can you get banned for using them?
Nobody outside Riot can promise you won't, and none of the three projects claims to. cslol-manager and LTK Manager both say "use at your own risk" and that Riot doesn't endorse them. Rose is more direct: "Riot Games does not allow custom skins that reproduce its real skins, which is what Rose does."
Riot's third-party applications policy says it reserves "the right to take action against applications that allow the use of our assets for free (often referred to as skin hacks)." The policy names skin hacks, which is what Rose's README says Rose does. It doesn't name fan-made mods, but Riot doesn't endorse those either, and both League Toolkit READMEs say use at your own risk. Our guide to free and paid skin changers goes through the difference.

Frequently asked questions
Is cslol-manager discontinued?
Not deleted, but it's in maintenance mode. Its README says new development has moved to LTK Manager, and its last release came out on 15 April 2026.
Do my cslol-manager mods work in LTK Manager?
Yes, if they're .fantome files. LTK Manager installs .fantome the same way as its own .modpkg. Drag them onto the window or use Import (Ctrl+I).
Does Rose still use cslol-dll.dll?
No. Since version 1.3.0 (24 September 2026) Rose patches with the LTK patcher, ltk_patcher_host.exe and ltk_patcher_dll.dll from an LTK Manager install. It still builds a stand-in file named cslol-dll.dll, but not cslol-manager's DLL. Our Rose LTK patcher setup guide shows where the two files go.
How do I update LTK Manager?
You don't download it again. LTK Manager checks for new versions itself and shows what changed before it updates. If you use Rose, copy the two patcher files into Rose's tools folder again afterwards.
LTK Manager not working after a League patch?
Update LTK Manager first: its releases follow League's patches, and 1.27.0 was updated for patch 26.20. After a patch it checks every mod again, repairs what it can with one press and lists the ones it can't. Its README says Asian servers and Garena aren't officially supported.
Does LTK Manager work on Mac?
Not yet. Its README lists Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and says macOS and Linux are planned. cslol-manager is the one with macOS builds.
Are these tools free?
All three are free. Their code is GPL-3.0 (cslol-manager, LTK Manager) or MIT (Rose), and the patcher files inside the two League Toolkit apps carry their own licences. Rose's README warns that if you paid for it, you got scammed.
Do they work on every server?
cslol-manager and LTK Manager support Riot-operated servers. Both READMEs say Asian servers and Garena aren't officially supported and may run into issues.
